Haou Airen

Hooboy. This manga had me in tears for hours. I won't be able to give this a proper review because, well, there is a lot I do not want to spoil. At all. So first things first

*TRIGGER WARNING*

THIS MANGA HAS MULTIPLE RAPE SCENES AS WELL AS ABUSE OF VARIOUS FORMS. THIS IS NOT FOR THE EASILY OFFENDED AND OR THIN SKINNED. NOR IS IT FROM ANYONE WHO SUFFERS TRAUMAS DUE TO THESE TYPES OF TRIGGERS. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Harou Airen is about a girl who simply helped an injured man causing her to become his new infatuation and thus her kidnapping. Now due to the version I read, I was missing the first few chapters So I do not properly know the details of the beginning of this story. I just know she was a high school girl who happened on an injured man who felt indebted to her for saving his life thus wanted to make her his mistress and take care of her for the rest of hers.
That is where her nightmare begins. This fella is a highschooler who turns out to be the leader of one of the most notorious mafia rings in hong kong... Also, it is said he has a birthmark of a dragon on the side of his head that only shows when you've pissed him off to where he wants you to die. This guy was raised to reject warm emotions. Love is nonexistent in this guy. Or so he thought. Throughout this story, he begins to fall for this girl, Karumi, he has taken in. This innocent, naive, virginal girl. This girl gets sucked into many many traps. A bitter ex-fiancee who promises to destroy the trust and love the girl has for him and she does. By provoking him to murder her right in front of the heroine. She made the girl believe she was her best friend so when he kills her it destroys any love and trust she had for him. He knew this tramp plan though and chose to allow the woman he loves to hate him to get rid of the woman insistant on killing the girl. There is a lot of political intrigue involved in this that is better read first hand than told in a simple review. Needless to say. Our heroine runs away first chance she gets. This turns Hakuron emotionless, cold, livid. The moment he kills that girl he becomes a monster to her. Warns her she stays with him whether she likes it or not and he spends the next few days raping her over and over so she never wants another man's touch. To him, he is training her body to want him and only him with just a mere look from him. Basically, Stockholm syndrome is something this girl develops. The man she loved who promised to never forcer her into losing her virginity steals it violently then proceeds to continue his violent assault over and over. She's thoroughly damaged by the time he is done. When it shifts to his pov he feels like he is dying inside because he chose the most monstrous route to ensure he never loses Karumi and if he can't have her love he will make it to where she will never leave him. This is the fault of the horrid man who raised him. Hakuron never experiencing love never being taught about love. The first time he experiences it is like head and heart trauma. The emotion is new to him. It terrifies him and he doesn't understand it. I am in no way justifying what he does to Karumi, I'm just saying this is the mind of a man who has no idea what love is and finds it to be a threating invasive force to his soul. And when he finds her gone he stops at nothing to retrieve her. The place she fled too is a little family-owned eatery. The boy there starts to fall for her but she knows returning his feelings would put him in danger. But too late for that. Hakuron finds her, the boy she is smiling with is beaten then brought to a room where he is forced to watch Karumi be punished for running from him. Watching a girl he likes be raped but seeing the girl almost accepting it and begging for more (Seriously its one helluva twisted love story)
She is then brought back and locked in her room.
The story moves on at a pretty face pace. The man is a mafia leader so there is a ton of high paced drama leading to him rejecting Karumi, as his subordinates feel her presence is changing him for the worst. She is given to one of the 4 officers where he takes her but rejects her as well. He hates her. or so he thinks. When in actuality he's infatuated with her. He also rapes his poor girl as a way to say if he finds out I've had you he'll never come back for you. Hakuron even tries to leave the mafia being called a traitor and the officer who had Karumi becomes the leader and he stops at nothing to find Hakuron to force him to take back over. This leads to Karumis family being rejected. As once the mafia took care of them they now reject them.
By the end of this Manga, I probably cried gallons of tears and the ending is extremely tragic. This is why I won't make a very spoiler like review and suggest if any of this appealed to you, then please give it a read
