Aki Fujishima:
This was an interesting storyline. Love that starts from a drunken one night stand. Hmmm, I feel like I've seen voltage do this before. Heh That's another title for another day though.
Anyway, Aki is a pretty non-commital kinda guy. About everything from relationships to work. You find out later that is due to his upbrining and having his life path designed for him by those typical rich type parents.
Anyway, Aki has an ulterior motive for choosing the MC at the singles event in the prologue. He wants to hire her at his pastry shop. To seal the deal he takes her on a birthday date. There we meet the recent ex for Aki's. Apparently, Aki is so non-commital that he has many many exes. You gather all left because he didn't want to take that next committed step.
Throughout the main story, you and Aki develop this weird relationship that you cannot even describe. At times he shows jealousy and at times he shows indifference and distance. But he always seems to know when you are down and how to cheer you up. At some point, you begin to get frustrated because you don't understand what it is Aki wants from you and in the meantime, you realize you have fallen hard for him. Fast forward a bit and Hiroyuki, an old culinary school classmate comes back into your life and you begin to catch up like old times. Meanwhile, people around you mention how old you're getting and how Hiroyuki would make a good husband and the lectures go on and on. Around this time Aki realizes something and gives you a wonderful date soon after the realization so he can tell you what he has decided. Unfortunately, Hiroyuki shows up just as Aki gathers the courage to say it and he loses courage on the spot when Hiroyuki brings up what Aki's family status is and Aki's possible future. This is something that floors you because not once did Aki mention it even when you mention the family business in passing conversation not knowing it was his families business. Soon after Hiroyuki hits you with the most unbelievable question ever. Something you wouldn't expect from someone you are only friends with.
A chat with your bestie makes you even more confused when she tells you to accept and reminds you again how old you are getting.
The turn of events leaves you in a daze causing you to make many mistakes at work. Worried about you Aki reaches out to you and its then you ask to meet up so you can settle things once and for all so that you may move on to the next chapter. Be it staying or doing the unthinkable and leaving everyone behind... Aki confides in you about his family and the life path he is now questioning. The conversation leaves you unable to say what you wanted when you realize it might just burden him even more so he walks you home in silence. As you are going into your apartment Aki then asks what Hiroyuki wanted with you that night. Startled you decided to tell him what you discussed. And that you might accept.
All at once all thoughts of you run through Aki's head and a mix of pain, anger, and sadness washes over his face. You have one last night together as apparently, Aki isn't going to stop you.
Once you tell Hiroyuki that you once had a physical relationship with your boss he forgives it since you weren't dating but by accepting his proposal all he asks is you quit as soon as possible to ease his mind. (Honestly, I would expect this. Of course, he would be uneasy at the fact his fiancee and her former sex buddy work together) The following day you turn in your resignation and announce your upcoming nuptials. Everyone is shocked. Especially when Aki makes no attempt to ask you to stay. You know right then it's over between you and you finish out your final day with a hint of sadness.
However, something crazy happens during your mock wedding. Changing your decision once again. You see Hiroyuki off with a smile and his forgiveness and you and Aki start your journey together.
All in all This story was pretty good. It kept me invested the whole time as I was seriously fretting over what the heck Aki was thinking. After reading his pov I sorta understood his fears and why he held back so long but as usual Voltage beau POVs are too vague for my liking so I didn't get all the answers I wanted. As I never do with a voltage POV.
Aki's storyline gets pretty dramatic with each following story. His family gets deeply involved of course and then there's a fear of marriage, baby scare so much going on but the finale story of their little family after marriage is a good one too. Its Aki's final life lesson really. Hoo boy is their child a stubborn one. Spoilt too. Heh. I do hope you check out his stories as in my honest opinion they are all worth the read. I don't want to spoil everything so I will end it here.
Happy Reading!
